Ottawa is sandwiched between 3 rivers - The Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau. The fourth largest urban area in Canada with 1.2 million population, Ottawa is also home to mainly large hi-tech industries, such as Alcatel, Tundra, RIM and Cisco.

Of course, Ottawa is also the capital and houses all the government infrastructure such as the parliament buildings, the Supreme Court and Senate.

Ottawa has the highest educated workforce in Canada (with more engineers and PHDs per capita than any other city), so it's no surprise that 90% of Canada's telecommunications research and development is conducted here, and families in Ottawa had the highest median incomes of any city in Canada!
